Dangerous avalanche conditions. Choose terrains with gentle slopes that are less affected by wind. It will take some more time for this large accumulation of snow to settle. When traveling, consider whether there are any large start zones above you. The forest is more dangerous with the "terrain traps" hidden by this snowfall. Please choose a safe route, assuming that the hole in the gully bottom has not been plugged.
Those forming in terrain pockets at higher elevations. Below the treeline, be especially cross-loading area.
It will take a few days for the storm instability to settle. Watch out for slabs that form on slopes where the terrain does not support snowpack, such as convexity.
Heavy snowfall has added significant load.
Yesterday (January 25), a size 1 slab avalanche was observed during avalanche control at the ski area. However, due to the heavy storm, the lifts in the upper part of the ski area are out of service and the control area was limited. There is no information on the mountain area. In the afternoon, there were reports of hearing what sounded like an avalanche.
Snowfall, which began on the morning of January 24, has reached 50-70 cm and is being affected by severe westerly winds.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting winds from the south, later from the north, cloudy, sometimes sunny, with a high of 1°C (418 m elevation) for northern Nagano Prefecture.
