Watch for bonding of newly formed storm slabs. Be careful of triggering on open steep slopes where there is little tree cover, or where there is a sudden change in slope, or on steep slopes just below a ridge or branch ridge. Be aware of avalanches from large start zones overhead, even if you yourself are on a low slope. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the generated avalanche is small.
Beware of triggering on open steep slopes with few trees, ridge lines, and steep slopes just below branch ridges.
No reports of new avalanches observed yesterday.
Yesterday, the steep slopes with solar radiation melted and formed crusts due to solar radiation. The northerly slopes remained dry. The snowfall was accompanied by strong winds from the west to the northwest, and caution should be exercised in terms of bonding at the boundary with the old snow and within the snowfall of this stormy day.
As of 5:00 am, 11 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours in the area around the AMeDAS Fujiwara and continues to fall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture with sunny skies from midday and snow showers until morning as the winter pressure pattern eases and the area is gradually covered by a high-pressure system.
