Watch for the triggering of new wind slabs on extremely steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges at higher elevations. The weather is expected to turn wintry in the coming days. Please be aware of new snowfall, wind effects, and other weather changes.
Be careful of extremely steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Yesterday, there was a report of a small loose snow avalanche observed on a steep southerly slope.
Strong westerly winds at higher elevations last night may have caused new wind slabs to form due to snow movement. The snowfall from the recent stormy weather is settling. On the steep southerly slopes, crusts have formed due to melting caused by solar radiation. The surface hoar observed in the Kagura area is buried about 10 cm below the surface, and in the Takezono area, a faceting layer is observed on the crust buried by the previous stormy weather, requiring caution for further bonding.
As of 5:00, there has been no snowfall at AMeDAS Fujiwara in the past 24 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a gradually developing winter pressure pattern, but due to the influence of a pressure trough and moist air, it will be cloudy and sometimes sunny in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture, with some snow showers from midday.
