Travel and Terrain Advice

Note the presence of unbonded storm slabs. Be careful of triggering on steep slopes with few trees or where there is a sudden change in slope just below the ridge or branch ridge. Be even more careful at higher elevations where avalanches are likely to be larger in size due to increased snowfall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting snowfall before noon. Please act with caution to watch for changes in snowfall amounts and wind effects in the coming days.

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches were reported yesterday, but visibility was poor.

Snowpack

Storm slabs are forming due to the wind-driven snowfall up to yesterday. On the southerly slopes, faceted snow is observed on top of the crusts, which have been buried by this stormy weather and require attention for bonding in the future. In areas less affected by wind, the surface is low-density, and attention is expected to be paid to bonding with snowfall from today.

Weather

As of 4:00 pm, 1 cm of snow had fallen in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies and snow or rain from early afternoon as a low pressure system with a frontal system moves east-northeast over the southern coast of Honshu.
