Travel and Terrain Advice

Manage the number of people exposed to a slope or obvious stress points such as convex roles in the alpine. With a decrease in the new snow we will see an increase in the number of people in the backcountry in the coming days so be mindful of who is around you. Snow will shed from the trees creating firm chunks below that can be hazardous if hit.

Previous northwest winds may have transported the latest new snow onto lee slopes at higher elevations. Slabs will likely require heavy loads to be triggered.

概要

Avalanche

No new activity has been reported in the previous few days.

Snowpack

Earlier in the week we received up to 30cm of new snow across the region. This latest new snow has settled and gained strength in the past 24hrs. Lower in the pack multiple curst interfaces have been observed. Possible buried surface hoar remains intact in the north of the region around Kiroro but further investigation is required.

Weather

Light northwest winds and periods of broken sunshine are expected in the early part of the weekend. Snow flurries and moderate winds from the southwest will round out the week.
