Avalanche
A size 1 wet loose snow avalanche of size 1 was reported yesterday (Feb. 13) Below Treeline.
Snowpack
In the higher elevations, wind slabs are expected to form on the downwind slopes of the ridge and just below the branch ridges due to snow movement caused by northwesterly winds. On the southerly slopes, faceted snow has been observed on crusts that were buried by the recent stormy weather, so keep an eye on the bonding situation in the future.
Weather
As of 4:00, 2 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara. Snow is falling in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and snowy conditions in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to a winter pressure pattern and the influence of a pressure trough and moist air.
