Watch for localized storm slabs remaining at higher elevations and for bonding of wind slabs that may have formed last night. Be careful on ridgelines, steep slopes just below branch ridges and steep slopes with few trees, especially at higher elevations where bonding is less likely to progress. Beware of avalanches from large start zones overhead, even if you yourself are on a low slope. Also, remember that a good slope to ski is "the avalanche terrain" itself. Remember the basics: ski one person at a time, move from safe zone to safe zone, and those in the safe zone should monitor the skiers.
Caution on steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges and on steep slopes with few trees, especially at higher elevations where bonding is difficult to proceed.
Be careful of steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Yesterday, there was a report of multiple slab avalanche size 2 observations on a steep southeast-facing slope that appeared to have occurred during past stormy weather.
More than 50-80 cm of snowfall from the stormy weather up to the 21st day is on top of the crust formed by the recent rise in temperature and rainfall, and in some areas the crust has been blown away by the wind and is now exposed. The bonding at the boundary with the old snow is good, and the bonding within the snowfall in the stormy weather is also improving. There is no new snowfall, but the southwesterly winds last night may have caused wind slabs to form on the downwind slopes due to snow movement.
As of 5:00, there has been no snowfall at Ameda Fujiwara in the past 24 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies and clearing in the evening due to a high pressure system gradually building up from the west, although the area will be affected by a pressure trough and moist air.
