Avalanche Hazard "1 Low" does not mean that avalanches will not occur. Beware of unstable snow remaining in limited areas such as extreme terrain features. Cloudy weather is forecast for today. At times like this, it will be difficult to see slope changes in the mountains due to flat light. It is important to ski at controlled speeds. In some areas at lower elevations, hard debris from avalanches caused by past rains may be hidden by new snow. The weather is forecast to turn wintry again heading into tomorrow, with snowfall predicted. Plan your trips with this in mind.
Note the unstable slab that remains in a limited location.

Yesterday (February 23), a size 2 glide avalanche was reported in the below treeline.
The instability caused by the stormy snow seems to have been mostly resolved. Sunny skies and high temperatures over the past two days have kept the snow surface sufficiently wet at lower elevations.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting winds from the south, later from the west, cloudy, late evening, rain or snow, and a high of 10° (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -5° (as of 5:45 a.m.).
