Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are in the forecast. When snowballs begin to roll on steep slopes in the sun, it is a sign that the snowpack is losing strength. Be aware of the possibility of a loose snow avalanche. Be careful on large steep slopes as the size of the generated avalanche will increase. Also be aware of the possibility of a block avalanche from a cliff-like area or a glide avalanche from an open glide crack. Avoid under such areas. Or move quickly.
Beware of large steep slopes to the south.
Watch out for block collapses from cliff-like areas and open glide cracks.
Yesterday, there was a report of a loose snow avalanche observed on a steep south-facing slope.
Past storm snowfall has been settling and bonding is rising. The steep southerly slopes have melt-Freeze and nighttime freeze due to solar radiation. Freezing has not progressed at lower elevations.
As of 4:00, snowfall in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara was 1 cm, and the temperature was 0.9 °C (32 °F).
