Alpine Fair Updated with observation information
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
The snowfall since yesterday has become unstable, and we have received information of avalanches, so we have updated the danger level. Please be aware of large upper slopes and steep terrain. Snow cover remains low. Even near the Treeline, the terrain is not yet fully covered, so whether climbing or sliding, routes should be chosen with a margin of safety. Tree branches and rocks are exposed from the shallow snowpack. Remember that the snowfall up to this morning may have concealed them.
There is a naturally occurring avalanche on the south face of the alpine area. This is due to snowfall since last night being destabilized by solar radiation.
There was 10-15 cm of snowfall at elevations near 1,000 m yesterday evening and midnight. Watch out for newly formed storm slabs.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting high pressure over the area on the 26th, but a cold front will move southward, causing a slow deterioration of the weather. The forecast calls for clear skies with southerly winds in northern Nagano, cloudy mornings and evenings, snow or rain in places late at night, and daytime high temperatures of 8°C (418 m elevation). At 703 m elevation in Hakuba, the temperature is -2.3°C (5:00 am). No snow has fallen since last night at the foot of the mountain.
