Beware of induced storm slabs that exist at higher elevations where snowfall increases and on open, steep slopes with few trees. Exposed "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. Be careful of falling into gully. In lower elevations, exposed bushes make skiing difficult. The weather service is forecasting more snowfall. Please be aware of changes in the amount of snowfall and wind effects.
Caution should be exercised at higher elevations where snowfall increases.
No new avalanche bulletin was reported yesterday (12th), but information is limited due to the small number of people entering the mountain.
At higher elevations where snowfall is heaviest, 30-40 cm of new snowfall from last night is expected to be on top of the old snow that has been settling. On south-facing slopes, crusts are forming on the boundary surfaces, so care should be taken in bonding the boundary surfaces.
As of 3:00 pm, about 10 cm of snow had fallen in the vicinity of AMeDAS Fujiwara, and it is still continuing. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture and snow in the afternoon and evening due to a winter pressure pattern and the influence of cold air.
