Below Treeline Good Note the effects of elevated temperature and solar radiation.
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
As with the previous day, the weather is perfect for a long tour that includes alpine areas. Bring plenty of water and sun protection. Be careful of slips and falls on the ridge tops and other wind-beaten areas as hard snow surfaces are exposed. This is a low avalanche danger day, but use safe terrain and continue to practice smart group management. Lower elevation areas are exposed to different hazards than in the normal season, such as snow bridge breaking in gully. Also, remember that on very steep slopes that receive a lot of sunshine, the possibility of wet snow avalanches can emerge in the afternoon. Have a good day.
Beware of slabs formed in extreme and isolated terrain pockets.
Be aware of rising temperatures during the day and the effects of solar radiation
Yesterday (29th), a size 1 wind slab avalanche was reported at Alpine by Skicut.
No major problems have been discovered in the mountain snowpack at this time, and the snow from previous stormy weather has largely settled. Strong winds following the stormy weather have caused the ridge to undergo strong scouring, exposing hard slopes in many areas, and windslabs on the leeward side have also increased the hardness very much. At lower elevations than the treeline, Melt-Freeze crusts have formed due to solar radiation, making skiing difficult. Winds on the main ridge have also been continuously weak for the past 24 hours, and the possibility of new wind slab formation is low.
High pressure is expected to prevail today. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting southerly winds, later northerly winds, clear skies, and a daytime high of 9 ºC for northern Nagano Prefecture. At 703 m elevation, the temperature is -10.0 °C (as of 5:00 a.m.), with no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
