Watch out for wind slabs that exist on steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges. Do not induce newly formed windslabs as bonding is not advanced. Be more careful in alpine areas because of the larger size of wind slabs. Poorly bonded layers have been observed at the boundaries of past stormy snowfalls. Be aware of induced storm slabs on extremely steep slopes. Exposed "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. Be careful of falling into gully and stepping through snow cover.
Be careful of steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Beware of extremely steep slopes
No new avalanches were observed yesterday (3rd).
Snowfall from past storms has been shifted by westerly winds since last night, forming wind slabs on the ridge and just below the branch ridges, and blowing off and exposing crusts in wind-swept areas. In the higher elevations that have not been affected by rainfall, caution should be exercised because locally there is a low-density, poorly bonded layer at the interface with the old snow in some areas. No fragility within the old snow has been reported.
As of 4:00 pm, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara was -2.9℃. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies at the foot of the mountains and gradually clearing before noon due to the influence of a pressure trough and moist air in the morning, although high pressure is expected to prevail.
