Due to the expected weak bonding between the snowfall caused by this stormy weather and the old snow boundary surface, care should be taken to avoid triggering storm slabs on steep slopes. Careful slope selection is recommended, such as lowering the slope level and avoiding open steep slopes with few trees. Pay attention to group management, e.g., avoiding other skiers on slopes above or below you. Even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small, "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase the damage are exposed. Care should also be taken to avoid falling into gully.
Beware of triggering on steep slopes.
No reports of new avalanches observed yesterday (10th).
Yesterday, surface hoar formation was observed on the snowpack surface over a wide area, melting and forming crusts on the southerly slopes, but surface hoar remained on the northerly slopes, and bonding should be noted as the snowfall since last night has buried it more than 30-40 cm below the surface. No vulnerability was reported in the middle to lower layers of the snowpack.
As of 4:00 pm, the temperature at Amedas Fujiwara is -1.8°C. There had been 18 cm of snowfall in the past 12 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes sunny skies in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture from midday until morning, with some snow showers until morning, as a continental high pressure system will extend over the Honshu area but will be affected by a pressure trough and cold air.
