Be aware of induced storm slabs that remain localized on extreme steep slopes in the higher elevation zones. Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are forecast during the day. Watch for loose snow avalanches from large south-facing steep slopes and glide avalanches from cliff-like areas and open glide cracks in the lower elevations. Move quickly in the lower part of such areas. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. Care should also be taken to avoid falling into gully.
Note the extremely steep storm slab.
Beware of large steep slopes that increase the size of avalanches that occur.
Yesterday (13th), there were reports of a number of spontaneous wet avalanche size 1-1.5 observed on extreme steep slopes in full sun; three days ago, several human-triggered slab avalanche size 1-2 occurred on steep and extreme steep slopes from north to east. The following is a list of the avalanche reports for the area.
The surface hoar observed extensively on the 9th has buried about 30-40 cm below the surface and bonding is progressing, but note that there is little information on the north-facing slopes, which are less affected by sunny slopes, so bonding is noted. No vulnerability has been reported in the middle to lower layers of snow cover. Surface crusts have formed at lower elevations and on more southerly slopes.
As of 4:00, the temperature at Ameda Fujiwara is -2.4°C. No snowfall in the past 24 hours. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy skies in the evening due to high pressure, but subject to the influence of a pressure trough in the sky.
