Travel and Terrain Advice
Conditions will require careful terrain selection at higher elevations where snow bonding will be difficult to progress. Storm slabs are expected to form on extremely steep slopes. Be careful not to induce sudden changes in slopes or from areas with few trees. In addition, wind slabs are forming on extreme steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridges due to strong winds that have been continuing since the 26th. Due to the low snowpack, "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing trees are exposed, which can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. Care should also be taken to avoid falling into gully.

Avalanche
Yesterday (28th), there was a report of a graupel slab avalanche observed on an extremely steep slope near 1300m elevation that appeared to have occurred within the past two days.
Snowpack
More than 30-40 cm of new snowfall, influenced by strong winds, has been placed on top of the old snow and settling is progressing. There is a low-density layer at the boundary with the old snow and bonding should be noted. No significant vulnerability in the middle to lower layers of the snowpack has been reported.
Weather
As of 4:00 pm, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara was -5.3℃. The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts that the area will be gently covered by high pressure at first, but will be affected by a pressure trough and moist air. In addition, a low pressure system will move east-northeast over the southern coast of western Japan, so the forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with rain or snow in the late evening.
