Due to snowfall accompanied by strong northerly winds, wind slabs are expected to form on steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridges. Be careful to avoid triggering as bonding has not progressed. Snowfall is forecast to continue. Be aware of the possibility of storm slabs forming due to future snowfall. Even if the avalanche size is small, "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage are exposed. Care should also be taken to avoid falling into gully. Also, be mindful of group management, such as making sure other runners are not above or below you. Be aware of the possibility of glide avalanches from areas with thin snow cover or cliff-like slopes due to the strong influence of rainfall and rising temperatures at lower elevations.
Be careful of steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Beware of thin snow cover and cliff-like slopes.
Yesterday (12th), no report of observation but limited due to low number of information; on the 11th, there was a report of observation of the sound of several large avalanches from steep areas around Tanigawa-dake.
Crusts have formed on the southerly slopes and in all directions below 1800m, on top of which is snowfall that has been affected by strong winds since last evening. It is expected to be blown away in wind-sensitive areas and form wind slabs downwind. There are no reports of vulnerability observed in the middle part of the snowpack, and below 1000m, cold temperatures are expected to be weak and the effects of rainfall since last evening are expected to be strong.
As of 5:00, the temperature at Amedas Fujiwara is -0.2°C. 10 cm of snow has fallen in the past 12 hours, and snowfall is still continuing in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a high pressure system in the west and a low pressure system in the east, but as the system is gradually covered by a high pressure system, it will become cloudy in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture, and some snow will continue to fall until the evening.
