Dangerous avalanche conditions due to heavy snowfall. Watch out for storm slabs on steep slopes. Be careful of triggering in areas with sudden slope changes or in open areas with few trees. It is recommended that you stay in areas of tree line with slopes of slopes that are slower. Be aware of the possibility of avalanches from large start zones overhead even if you yourself are in an area with a low slope. Even if the avalanche is small in size, there are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullys, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase the damage. Be careful about falling into gully. Snowfall continues. Please act with caution and be aware of changes due to increased snowfall and wind effects in the future.
Beware of sharp changes in slope and open steep slopes with few trees.
Yesterday (21st), there was a report of multiple naturally occurring and human-triggered slab avalanche size 1-2 observed near 1400m.
Due to the stormy weather that began on the 20th, more than 60-100 cm of snowfall affected by strong winds is expected to be on top of the settling old snow at higher elevations. A layer of low bonding within this stormy snowfall has been observed, and avalanches are occurring, so caution should be exercised in bonding. There are no reports of significant vulnerability observed in the middle to lower layers of the snowpack.
As of 4:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -4.5°C. 17 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours, and snow continues to fall in the surrounding area. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies at the foot of the mountains in northern Gunma Prefecture with sunny skies before noon and snow showers in some areas until morning, as the low pressure system in the west eases and high pressure gradually builds.
