Watch for avalanches of wet snow that has lost strength due to high temperatures. Today, the sun is not as strong as it was yesterday, but high temperatures are forecast, which will cause snow to lose strength. Snow is so heavy that even very small avalanches can cause injury. Please consider whether there are any hazardous elements above you. Also, stay away from slopes with glide cracks and do not stay under them. The weather is expected to worsen and rain is predicted. Today could be a fun day to ski on the groomed courses.
Note the instability that remains in localized areas of extreme terrain.
Note high daytime temperatures.
Beware of slopes with glide cracks.
On March 22, an avalanche with a fracture line thickness of easily over 5 m was observed in the upper part of Daisekkei, and a persistent slab was suspected.
Yesterday (24th), numerous size 1-2 loose snow avalanches were observed below 2,000 m elevation. Slab avalanches were also reported during the daytime management of the ski resort.
Yesterday, the stormy snow was rapidly settling under the influence of high temperatures and strong solar radiation. At lower elevations, water floated on the snow surface, making it a complete stop-snow. Due to this rapid snow change, some ski areas closed their trails and conducted avalanche management during the day. High temperatures continued, with temperatures hovering around plus 5°C at elevations near 1,500 m throughout the night.
Today, a low pressure system is expected to move east of Japan, while a frontal system will remain stagnant along the southern coast of Japan and be affected by moist air. At 703 m elevation, the temperature is 1.0 °C (as of 5:00 a.m.), with no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
