Keep in mind the presence of wind slabs formed on extremely steep slopes on high elevation ridges and just below branch ridges. Even if the avalanche size is small, there are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep streams, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase the damage. Be careful about falling into gully. The recent stormy weather was wet at lower elevations, so watch for loose snow avalanches from large steep slopes and glide avalanches from areas with glide cracks or cliff-like slopes. Do not enter the lower part of such areas or pass through them quickly.
Beware of extremely steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges.
Beware of open cracks and cliff-like slopes.
Yesterday (27th), there was a report of a small loose snow avalanche observed on a steep south-facing slope.
Snowfall that was strongly influenced by wind up to the 27th has formed wind slabs locally with about 20 cm around 1300 m, but bonding is good. Crusts have formed on the boundary surface, and the snow cover is wet at lower elevations where the influence of rainfall is strong, but bonding is good. There are no reports of significant fragility observed in the middle to lower snowpack.
As of 5:00 pm, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -2.2℃. The JMA is forecasting high pressure at first, but low pressure with a front will move into the Sea of Japan at night, and a front in the East China Sea will extend eastward from Huazhong to the East China Sea, resulting in cloudy skies and rain at night.
