Warm southerly winds are expected to bring warmer temperatures and more rainfall. The rainfall is also predicted to be significant, with 50 mm in the 24-hour period ending at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. The danger level will certainly increase, not only in the below treeline, but also in the glide cracks on the slightly higher elevation slopes at treeline. Please pay attention above yourself and avoid going under slopes with glide cracks. The danger of cornice collapsing and falling as a block avalanche will also increase. Climbers should choose a safe place to climb where the ground is securely under the snowpack.
High temperatures continue. Be alert for slopes with glide cracks. Danger will increase with future rainfall.
Rating is as of morning. Note the onset of rainfall.
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (2nd).
The continuous strong westerly winds were blowing near the main ridge, but by yesterday evening, the winds had subsided. At the same time, warm air from the south has already entered the area, and temperatures around 1,500 m elevation have remained around plus 5°C since yesterday afternoon. This has allowed the melting of snow in the below treeline to proceed.
