Dangerous avalanche conditions. Be aware of the presence of storm slabs at higher elevations where snowfall increases and on open steep slopes with few trees. It is recommended to stay in wooded areas with lower elevation and slopes that are slower. Even if you are in a low-slope area with many anchors yourself, such as a tree line, be aware of the presence of large avalanche start zones overhead. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullies, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. In lower elevation zones, bushes are exposed and difficult to ski through. Be careful of falling into gully. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting more snowfall. Please be aware of changes in the amount of snowfall and wind effects.
Beware of higher elevations with increased snowfall.
No new avalanche bulletin was reported yesterday (27th), but information is limited due to the small number of people entering the mountain.
More than 100 cm of snowfall due to the stormy weather that started on the evening of the 26th is expected to be on top of the snowpack that has been settling. On south-facing slopes, crusts are forming on the boundary surface with the old snow, and care should be taken in bonding the boundary surface.
As of 4:00 pm, 35 cm of snow had fallen in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara and continues to fall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and snowy conditions in northern Gunma Prefecture due to the continuing winter pressure pattern and the influence of a pressure trough and cold air.
