There has been more than 40 cm of new snowfall. Since bonding has not progressed, watch out for induced storm slabs on steep slopes. Be aware of glide cracks on steep slopes, which are thinly concealed in some places, and beware of falls. There are exposed "terrain traps" such as deep gullys, cliffs, rocks, and standing timber that can increase damage even if the size of the avalanche that occurs is small. Be careful of falling into gully holes. Snowfall is still continuing. Please be aware of changes in snow conditions due to snowfall amounts and winds.
Beware of bonding storm slabs on steep slopes.
Yesterday (31st), there was a report of a glide avalanche size 2 observed in Nishikurozawa, Tanigawadake.
More than 40 cm of new snowfall since yesterday is expected to be on top of the old snow, which has settled and bonded well, and more than 80 cm in the blowdown area. Care should be taken at the boundary of the old snow and bonding within the snowfall.
As of 6:00 am, 27 cm of new snow had fallen at AMeDAS Fujiwara, and 37 cm of snow had fallen with strong winds at around 1350 m. Snowfall is still continuing. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting a high pressure pattern in the west and low pressure in the east, with cold air affecting the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture, resulting in cloudy skies and occasional clearing from midday, with snow showers in some areas until morning.
