At higher elevations, where snow bonding is less likely to progress, watch out for wind slabs on extreme steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges. Be aware of glide cracks on steep slopes, which are thinly concealed in some places, and watch for falls. At lower elevations, watch for falls into gully holes. Snowfall is still continuing. Please be aware of changes in snow cover conditions due to snowfall amounts and winds.
Be careful of extremely steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
No new avalanche bulletins were reported yesterday (2nd), but there was little information due to poor visibility.
About 10 cm of new snowfall will be placed on top of the past stormy snowfall that has been settling. The bonding at the boundary with the old snow and within the snowfall is good, and there are no reports of significant vulnerability observed.
As of 4:00 pm, there has been no new snowfall in the past 12 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes sunny skies in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to a winter pressure pattern, which is expected to be affected by a pressure trough and moist air.
