Beware of new snowfall inducing storm slabs on steep slopes. Be careful in areas where there are few trees to support the snowfall and where the slope changes abruptly. Wind slabs are expected to form on steep slopes just below the ridge and branch ridges due to last night's winds. Please exercise caution in bonding. Be aware of glide cracks on the steep slopes, which are thinly concealed in some places, and be careful of falls due to overstepping. Be aware of the presence of lower groups so that you do not get caught in the event your own group triggers an avalanche.
Beware of steep slopes with few trees.
Beware of steep slopes on the ridge and just below the branch ridge.
Yesterday (9th), there were reports of several small dry snow avalanche-triggered loose snow avalanches on steep slopes.
The stormy weather since the 7th has brought about 20-30 cm of snowfall on top of the low-density snowpack, and caution is needed for bonding at higher elevations, where bonding is difficult. Wind from the west to the north last night is expected to move the snow and form wind slabs on the leeward side of the mountain. Below 1200m elevation, crusts are buried in all directions due to recent rainfall and elevated temperatures, but no bad bonding is reported.
As of 4:00 p.m., 3 cm of snow had fallen over the past 12 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara, and snow continues to fall in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes snowy conditions in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to a strong winter pressure pattern and the influence of moist and cold air.
