Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Fair
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Dangerous avalanche conditions due to heavy snowfall. Action is also difficult. Be aware that new snowfall may trigger storm slabs on steep slopes. Be careful in areas where there are few trees to support the snowfall and where the slope changes abruptly. We recommend that you stay below treeline where the slopes are less steep. Even if you are in an area with a loose slope yourself, be aware of avalanches from large avalanche start zones overhead.
Recommended to work on slopes of lower treeline and on ridges.
Yesterday (10th), a number of human-triggered slab avalanche size 1 and naturally occurring loose snow avalanche size 1 were reported to have been observed on steep slopes.
Due to snowfall that has intensified since yesterday, about 100 cm of new snow has fallen in mountainous areas. Attention should be paid to bonding within this snowfall and at the boundary with the old snow. Below 1200m elevation, crusts are buried in all directions due to the recent rainfall and rising temperatures, but there are no reports of bad bonding.
As of 3:00 a.m., 72 cm of snow had fallen in the past 24 hours at AMeDAS Fujiwara, and snow continues to fall in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting that the winter pressure pattern will gradually loosen, but because of the influence of a pressure trough and cold air, the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture will be cloudy and sunny with snow until dawn, with thunderstorms in some areas.
