Alpine Low Depends on snowfall
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Good If it rains, the danger level increases
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Below treeline and treeline, conditions are generally safe, but watch out for unstable snow remaining on some extreme terrain. In alpine, watch out for slabs forming in terrain localities. Below treeline, glide cracks are hidden by recent snowfall. Watch for areas where the slope changes.
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (12th).
Due to elevated temperatures and solar radiation over the past two days, the snow from previous storms is settling steadily. No significant vulnerability has been observed in the upper layer of snowdpack. On steep, south-facing slopes at lower elevations than the treeline, crusts are forming on the snow surface.
Today, the area is expected to be temporarily affected by a pressure trough and cold air in the sky, followed by a high in the west and low in the east. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting southerly winds, northwesterly winds, rain or snow during the day, cloudy from midday, and daytime high temperatures of 7 °C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu area of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -5 °C (as of 4:45 a.m.), and no new snow has fallen in the past 12 hours.
