Travel and Terrain Advice
With high degree of uncertainty in the alpine and excellent skiing in lower angled terrain at tree line and below it is recommended avoid the alpine unless you have a high risk tolerance are highly skilled in terrain management and snowpack assessment. A small, carefully step out mind set and a great day can be enjoyed in lower angled terrain tree line and below. Normal caution is advised. Exposure to cornices should be avoided.
Avalanche Problem
ウインドスラブ Wind slab
West winds have slightly dropped overnight. More snow is expected today with continued Moderate west ridge top winds. Skier triggered wind slab avalanches are likely today on steep lee and cross loaded slopes.
点発生乾雪雪崩 Dry Loose snow
Small rider triggered dry loose avalanches remain a problem today on slopes steeper that 39 degrees.

As more snow is expected today on top of yesterdays new snow storm slab avalanche are possible.

Avalanche
No new avalanches have been reported. Stuffing and small dry loose avalanches have not propagated and entrainment more snow.
Snowpack
4-5cm reported in the last 24 hours at Kimobetsu and Kutchan. The recent storm snow is slowly settling as more snow falls with 4 cm of settlement in the total height of snow there. Ski cuts produced small pockets of wind slab yesterday with no propagation. Reactive surface hoar buried Jan 13 down 20cm at 650m on a North aspect had been reported and should be further investigated as a potential problem layer. The lower snow pack continues to gain strength.
Weather
More moderate snow is expected today. West winds have dropped and should remain light with moderate ridge top west winds. Less new snow and possible brief sun breaks are possible South Yotei and Shiribetsu areas. High temperatures remain cold at near -8
