Travel and Terrain Advice

The instability of previous stormy snow has been resolved and avalanche conditions are generally safe. There is currently very light snowfall at higher elevations, but no amounts are forecast to cause major problems. Forecasters expect the weather to improve later in the day. The northern slopes, slightly higher in elevation, still offer good snow. Watch out for glide cracks hiding ahead of the slope you are skiing.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (20th), due in part to clear skies and high temperatures, several size 1-2 glide avalanches were observed on the south slope of the forested area at lower elevations. In addition, a size 1 loose snow avalanche was observed on a steep slope on the south side of the below treeline with a ski cut,

Snowpack

Three days of high temperatures and sunshine have increased the thickness of the Melt-Freeze crust on the steep south-facing slopes. Since yesterday's freezing level was around 1,600 m, the snow on the north side of the treeline/alpine is dry. Here at higher elevations, a slight snowfall from earlier in the day is on the list.
