Be aware of glide crack movement leading to glide avalanches at lower elevations and the potential for wet snow avalanches from large steep slopes. Do not enter or quickly pass through open glide cracks or the bottom of cliff-like slopes. When regrouping after skiing, try to remove the avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on top of a ridge.
Watch out for open glide cracks and cliff-like slopes.
Beware of large steep slopes to the south.
No new avalanches have been reported.
The snow from past storms has been settling and bonding. The snowfall up to yesterday (5 to 10 cm) is on top of the snowpack, which is well bonded. The snow surface on the southerly steep slopes melted during the day yesterday and is expected to freeze and form crusts in the evening. There are no reports of vulnerability observed in the middle to lower layers of the snowpack. Glide crack movement has been observed on the southerly steep slopes.
As of 4:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -2.6°C. There is no new snowfall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting generally clear skies due to high pressure.
