Travel and Terrain Advice

Be aware of the possibility of glide avalanches from open glide cracks and cliff-like slopes, as well as wet snow point loose snow avalanches from large steep slopes after the surface melt-Freeze has thawed due to the effects of solar radiation and elevated temperatures during the day. Do not enter the lower part of such slopes or pass through them quickly. When regrouping after skiing, try to remove the avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on top of a ridge.

Snowpack


The snow cover surface is expected to be settling and bonding is rising. The snow surface on the steep southerly slopes is in a cycle of melting during the day and freezing at night. There are no reports of vulnerability observed in the middle to lower layers of the snowpack. Glide crack movement has been observed on the steep southerly slopes.

Weather


As of 5:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -4.7°C. No new snowfall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy skies due to a high-pressure system, but subject to the influence of a trough and moist air.
