Continue to assess conditions throughout the day as rising temperature will affect the snow surface at lower elevations with heavy conditions promoting the possibility of twisting falls. Glide cracks continue to be of concern and should be avoided as the timing of a release is unpredictable and the consequence of such an event is high. Firm conditions in the alpine have left us with a variable snow surface and challenging travel options. Be wary of a long slide in steep terrain on the windward aspects if you lose your footing.
Pockets of winds slab remain at higher elevations and may be triggered by single person loads in steep terrain or obvious stress points such as convex roles.
Temperatures again will rise to above freezing at lower elevations resulting in the upper snowpack becoming heavy and losing cohesion. The possibility of low volume loose wet activity remains in the middle of the day.
No new activity has been reported.
All aspects below 500m have been sun and temperature affected resulting in a surface crust forming. The mid and lower pack has now settled and gained strength. Upper elevations in the alpine have become firm with the windward side stripped from previous winds and the pockets of hard slab on the lee.
We can expect the chance of light snow flurries in the north of the region throughout the day with broken sunshine forecasted in the south. Winds will remain variable and light with temperatures likely to push above freezing below 500m meters.
