Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Good Uncertainty in the movement of glide cracks.
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Sunny skies are forecast during the day. Be aware of the possibility of glide avalanches from open glide cracks and cliff-like slopes, as well as wet snow point loose snow avalanches from large, steep south-facing slopes. Do not enter the lower part of such slopes or pass through them quickly. When regrouping after skiing, try to remove the avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on top of a ridge.
Beware of open glide cracks and cliff-like areas.
Note the large steep slope facing south.
Yesterday (23rd), a daytime glide avalanche was observed on the southern slope near 1100 m elevation.
The snow surface is settling and bonding is rising. New snowfall of about 3-5 cm is expected to be on top of it. In the Kagura area yesterday, surface hoar was observed in areas above 1600m elevation where the wind has little effect, and is expected to be buried today. Caution should be exercised for future bonding. The snow surface on the steep southerly slopes is repeating the cycle of melting during the day and freezing at night. There are no reports of observed vulnerability from the middle to lower layers of the snowpack. Glide crack movement and glide avalanches have been observed on the steep southerly slopes.
As of 6:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -0.2°C. 1 cm of new snow has fallen, with snow flurries in the surrounding areas; 3 cm of snow has fallen in the past 6 hours at around 1300 m. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting clear skies and cloudy mornings and evenings in the foothills of northern Gunma Prefecture due to a high-pressure system, but subject to the influence of a pressure trough and moist air.
