Spring like conditions continue with lower elevations warming during the day and becoming heavy. The alpine remains wind affected, variable, and firm. Glide cracks continue to be a concern and should be avoided.
Full depth glide avalanches remain a concern as we continue to feel the affect of this warming period. Avoid travelling below these features where possible.
Wet lose activity may occur during the day as the snow surface loses cohesion with freezing levels rising to 500m.
Isolated pockets of firm wind lab remain in the high alpine below ridgeline.
No new activity has been reported.
The mid and lower snowpack is settled and well bonded. The surface is variable with a melt freeze crust on all aspects below 600m and rising to 800m on southerlies. Pockets of surface hoar have been reported on easterly aspects across the region.
Clear skies and sunshine are in the forecast for today. Winds will remain light from the north with temperatures rising to above freezing throughout the day below 500m.
