Travel and Terrain Advice

Wind slabs are expected to form on the ridge and just below the branch ridges due to past wind-driven snow movement. Please be aware that wind slabs can be triggered on extremely steep slopes. When regrouping after skiing, be sure to remove the avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on top of a ridge.

概要

Avalanche

No new avalanches reported yesterday (27th).

Snowpack

Recent snowfall of about 5-15 cm is expected to be redistributed by the recent moderate northerly winds, forming a localized windslab downwind. In the Kagura area, low-density snow and a strong temperature gradient are observed on the boundary surface with the old snow, so caution is required for future bonding. The old snow on the southerly slopes is crusting. No report of observed fragility from mid to lower snowpack.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -3.2°C. There is no new snowfall. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes sunny skies in northern Gunma Prefecture as the pressure pattern will gradually shift to a high in the west and low in the east.
