Alpine Low
Treeline Fair
Below Treeline Good Depends on the degree of temperature rise and rainfall
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Act on the assumption that there is still unstable snow in the terrain pockets east of the treeline and alpine. Be aware of unstable slabs that are partially forming on the sides of the branch ridges and convex terrain. Also consider that the winds above are shifting from southwest to west. Crusts are forming on the southern slopes below treeline, so it is important to control your speed when skiing. When the temperature rises and precipitation begins to fall, the risk of glide avalanches increases, so please keep a good distance from slopes with glide cracks.
Yesterday (27th), size 1 wet loose snow avalanches and snowballs were observed at lower elevations in the forested zone.
At lower elevations than the treeline, bonding of the old snow with the previous storm snow has been observed to be improving and gaining strength. On the south slope, where the effects of sunny slopes and high temperatures are stronger, the snow surface melted yesterday, producing snowballs and wet loose snow avalanches. Crusts also formed on the snow surface on the south slope at higher elevations.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting westerly winds, late, slightly stronger, cloudy, with occasional rain or snow, and daytime high temperatures of 8 °C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is -2 °C (as of 3:45 pm), with no new snowfall in the past 12 hours.
