Note the presence of unbonded storm slabs. Be careful about triggering on steep slopes or where the slope changes abruptly. We recommend that you stay below treeline where the slopes are less steep and on the ridge top. When regrouping after skiing, be sure to remove yourself from avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on a ridge top. Be aware of other groups above and below you. Snowfall is forecast to continue. Please be aware of changes in snow conditions due to snowfall amounts and winds.
Beware of steep slopes
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (29th).
Snowfall, which intensified yesterday afternoon with strong westerly winds, is expected to form storm slabs with more than 30 cm around 1500 m. Low density snowfall is suspected to exist on the boundary surface between this stormy snowfall and the old snow, and caution is required for bonding. There are no reports of observed vulnerability from the middle to lower layers of the snowpack.
As of 4:00, the temperature at AMeDAS Fujiwara is -3.1℃. 20 cm of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours. Snowfall continues at present. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy skies and snow in the morning and evening at the foot of the mountains in northern Gunma Prefecture due to the continued strong winter pressure pattern and the influence of moist air and cold air.
