Travel and Terrain Advice

At higher elevations where snow bonding is less likely to progress, be aware of the presence of wind slabs forming on extremely steep slopes just below the ridge and storm slabs on extremely steep slopes. When regrouping after skiing, be sure to remove the avalanche terrain and regroup in the safest place possible, such as on top of the ridge. Also be aware of other groups above and below you.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (1st), several human-triggered loose snow avalanches occurred on steep slopes, all of which were size 1 or smaller. In addition, a slab avalanche (size 2), which is believed to have occurred during the stormy weather up to yesterday, was observed on an extremely steep slope near 1800m.

Snowpack

Although there has been more than 70 cm of snowfall due to stormy weather since the 30th, no significant vulnerability has been reported at the interface between the interior of this snowfall and the old snow.

Weather

As of 4:00, the temperature at Ameda Fujiwara is -2.5°C. No snowfall in the past 12 hours, but light snow is falling in the surrounding areas. The JMA is forecasting cloudy skies with some snow and rain showers from dawn to morning due to a low pressure system and a front and low pressure system moving eastward along the southern coast of Japan.
