Alpine Low No information on snowfall and wind effects
Treeline Low
Below Treeline Fair
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
Dangerous avalanche conditions due to heavy snowfall. Be careful of triggering storm slabs that are forming on steep slopes. We recommend that you stay below treeline on slopes and on ridges. Even if you are on a loose slope, watch out for avalanches from large avalanche start zones overhead. When regrouping after skiing, please try to leave the avalanche terrain and stay as close to the ridge top as possible to ensure safety. Snowfall is forecast to continue. Please be aware of changing conditions due to snowfall amounts and wind-driven snow movement.
Beware of open steep slopes with few trees.
Yesterday (20th), several avalanches (size 1) and small loose snow avalanches caused by naturally occurring storm slabs and small point avalanches were observed on steep slopes below treeline, but there is little observational information due to poor visibility due to stormy weather.
As of 4:00 pm, there has been 4 mm of precipitation in the past 12 hours at 700 m elevation at Ameda Fujiwara, but the amount of snowfall is unknown. Snowfall is still continuing in the surrounding areas. The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting cloudy and sometimes sunny skies with some snowfall at the foot of the mountains in northern Gunma Prefecture due to the continuing winter pressure pattern and the influence of a pressure trough and moist air.
