Travel and Terrain Advice

Conditions will vary depending on the presence or absence of snowfall or rainfall. At very high elevations, be sure to check the conditions of newly formed slabs. Remember that the amount of new snow is small, but the size of the terrain and the size of the avalanches that occur will vary. On the other hand, at lower elevations, the snow is melting. Watch out for collapsing unstable snow blocks that remain on the side slopes of forest roads.

Avalanche Problem

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (1st), a size 2.5 glide avalanche was observed at the base of the mountain.

Snowpack

At higher elevations, light snowfall and moderate winds were observed during the day and night yesterday, and new slabs are expected to form. On the other hand, at lower elevations, snow is melting and caution is required for glide avalanches in all aspects. The JMA is forecasting 15 mm of precipitation by 6 am tomorrow morning. Whether this will be snow or rain will change avalanche problems to keep in mind.
