At very high elevations, watch out for very steep gullies and other areas where snow is accumulating. Also, remember that although there is not a lot of snowfall, the larger the terrain, the more likely it is that an avalanche will be magnified. Snow is melting at lower elevations. Stay clear of slopes with glide cracks and move quickly when passing under them, keeping a wide berth between you and your companions.
In high alpine, the snowfall has been about 10-15 cm over the past few days. Check slab conditions on steep slopes.
Watch out for collapsing unstable snow blocks that remain on extreme terrain.
No new avalanches were reported yesterday (2nd). This is partly due to the low number of people entering the mountain.
The weather has been similar for the past few days. Light rain at lower elevations and light snowfall at very high elevations. At least 5 cm of snow has fallen in Alpine by this morning. The snowfall is occurring in light wind conditions, but due to the high temperatures, slabs are forming quickly. Please check the actual amount of new snow and the condition of the slabs. Snow is melting below treeline.
