Alpine Fair
Treeline Fair Depends on the degree of temperature rise and solar radiation
Below Treeline Fair
信頼度:○ good □ Fair △ Low
High temperatures have been continuing since yesterday. During the daytime, the effect of solar radiation is added to this, so the snow in the upper layers of the snowpack is melting more and losing its bonding strength. Melting water is also occurring, and there is a risk of glide avalanches. Even below treeline, please increase your terrain awareness and be wary of steep gullies in the forest.
Avoid slopes with glide cracks. Be alert for collapsing snow blocks that remain in cliff-like areas.
On large steep slopes, snow will gather and increase in size. Do not be caught off guard by the small amount of snow that has started to move.
Yesterday (25th), several size 1-3 glide avalanches were observed below treeline. Many size 1 wet loose snow avalanches were also reported in the treeline and below treeline.
The snow in the below treeline and treeline has become moist or wet and has lost strength, regardless of the slope aspect. Today, since early morning, very warm air has been coming in from the south, so we must assume from the morning that snow conditions are not good.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is forecasting winds from the west, slightly stronger, then from the south, cloudy, with a daytime high of 16 °C (13 m elevation) for the Joetsu region of Niigata Prefecture. At Sasagamine, Myoko (elevation 1,310 m), the temperature is 8 °C (as of 4:45 a.m.), with no new precipitation in the past 24 hours.
