Travel and Terrain Advice

Where the elevation is higher than the upper part of the below treeline, it is a day when avalanche conditions are high for certain terrain. The amount of snowfall is not high, but there is a strong suspicion of the formation of a storm slab that responds to human stimuli from the weather transition. While climbing, please use the small, safe terrain and check the condition of the snow cover. Moving snow can be fatal if there is at least a “terrain trap” below a slope, such as trees, cliffs, or deep depressions. Think carefully about what is at the end of the slope.

概要

Avalanche

Yesterday (26th), a large number of point avalanches of size 1 were observed on a very steep slope. It is due to snow that fell from the early hours.

Snowpack

Yesterday, a slight snowfall from the early dawn (about 5 cm in the below treeline) caused point avalanches during the day. After that, it became weak rainfall at the foot of the mountain, so it is necessary to think that there was some fresh snow until this morning at a high altitude. Also, since strong westerly winds are blowing in the Alpine at night, there is a high possibility that subsequent snowfall is deposited under the influence of the wind on snow with very weak binding force (the cause of point generation avalanches) on the leeward slopes It's.

Weather

The Meteorological Agency forecasts northern Nagano prefecture with northern winds, cloudy weather, occasional sunny weather, snow in some places, and a maximum temperature of 3℃ (elevation 418m). At the foot of Mt. Hakuba (elevation 703m), the temperature is -1.2° C (as of 5:00), and there is almost no new snowfall at the foot of the mountain.
